Before You Play
Glossary
Every term the site uses, defined in the sense this site uses it. Where a word means something slightly different elsewhere in crypto, the definition here is the one that applies on these screens.
The games
- Round
- One five-minute Price Prediction contest. Rounds overlap: while one is being decided, the next is taking bets.
- Market
- One Event Prediction question with its own pot and its own answers. A single real-world event can carry several markets.
- Outcome
- One of the answers offered on a market. Between two and eight per market.
- Epoch
- A round's number. Rounds are numbered in sequence and the number never repeats.
- Position
- Which side you took — UP or DOWN in a round, or which outcome in a market.
Time
- Open
- The moment entries start being accepted.
- Lock
- The moment entries stop, enforced by the contract rather than by the site. Nothing gets in after it.
- Close
- The moment the answer exists — the deciding candle, the final whistle, the published result.
- Blind window
- The stretch between the lock and the close. You cannot act inside it, and it is where the answer is actually produced.
- Awaiting resolution
- The subject is over and the chain has not been told yet. The card covers itself because nothing on it can change.
- Refund window
- Opens seven days after a market's lock if it was never resolved. From then, players refund themselves.
- UTC
- The clock a market's question is written on. Card times use your device's timezone, so the two look different and mean the same instant — and west of UTC they can fall on different days. The market's rule states the settling minute with its full date.
Money
- Stake
- What you put in. Winning stakes qualify for a payout and eligible cancelled or timed-out events for a refund. Losing stakes are lost.
- Pool
- All the money behind one outcome, the house's share of the seed included.
- Pot
- Every pool added together. The whole of what is on the table.
- Prize pool
- What the card calls the pot.
- Seed
- The house contribution included in the pools and payout formula. An event splits it evenly across its answers. It is backed by the shared house balance, not reserved separately or counted as protected player funds.
- Multiplier
- The pot divided by one pool — what a unit staked there returns if it wins. Quoted gross, before the claim fee. It moves whenever anybody enters.
- Claim fee
- The house's 5%. Fixed when the contest settles, not deducted per claim, and shown as its own line at entry rather than folded into the multiplier.
- Reward rate
- The share of the pot winners split — 95. The contract refuses to set it below 90.
- Refund
- Getting your original stake back without a fee. Events refund only after cancellation or the unresolved-event timeout. A valid resolved event never refunds its losing stakes. Price Prediction also refunds tied rounds.
- Claim
- The transaction that moves your winnings to your wallet. Nothing is pushed to you automatically, and nothing expires.
Price Prediction specifics
- Lock price
- The price recorded when the round locks. Your bet is measured from it.
- Close price
- The price recorded when the round closes. Higher than the lock and UP wins; lower and DOWN wins.
- Tie
- Close price exactly equal to lock price. Nobody wins and every stake becomes refundable.
- Bull / Bear
- The contract's names for UP and DOWN.
- Oracle
- Where the deciding price comes from. Some pairs read a feed on chain; others have prices published to the contract with a proof of the reading.
Event Prediction specifics
- Rule
- The market's own written settlement terms — what decides it, when, and how edge cases fall. Read it before entering.
- EventHash
- A hash of the question and every answer, written on chain at creation and re-checked on every entry. It is what makes the wording unchangeable.
- Event resolution
- The operator records the winning answer against the published rule. The contract does not independently verify the result.
- Event count
- How many events exist, read from eventCount. They are numbered from 1 with no gaps.
- Event stake limit
- The maximum total one wallet may stake across all entries and outcomes in an event. Splitting a stake into multiple transactions does not increase the limit.
Chain words
- Wallet
- Your account. It is not created by us and cannot be recovered by us.
- Gas
- The network's fee for processing a transaction, paid in BNB to the chain rather than to us.
- Transaction
- One instruction sent to the chain. Once confirmed it is permanent and public.
- Contract
- The program holding the money and the rules. It is the product; the website is a convenience for talking to it.
- Non-custodial
- We never hold your funds. They move from your wallet to the contract and back, and there is no balance with us in between.
- Protected funds
- Recorded player obligations: unsettled stakes, unpaid winner payouts after resolution, or unpaid refunds. House seed is excluded in Event Prediction. Claims and refunds reduce this amount.
- Free collateral
- The contract balance above its recorded player obligations, or zero if the balance is insufficient. It limits operator withdrawals but does not reserve every event's house seed.
