Terms of Use

Using Candle Genie. These terms govern your use of the Candle Genie website and its interface for interacting with prediction contracts. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, you should not use the service.

Eligibility. You must be at least 18 years old, act on your own behalf and comply with the laws that apply to your use of the service in your location.

Wallet access. Participation uses a connected wallet address. A separate Candle Genie email and password account is not required. The service may maintain a public profile associated with your address. Wallet providers may offer their own account, sign-in and recovery features under their respective terms.

Game documentation. Review the market details, entry limits, timing and payout calculation before confirming an entry. The Learn guide explains the mechanics, and the Contracts page provides addresses and explorer links.

Price Prediction. Each round accepts UP or DOWN entries for a price pair until its lock time. A close price above the recorded lock price settles UP; a lower close price settles DOWN. Equal prices qualify for refunds under the contract's timing and eligibility checks. One entry is allowed per wallet, per pair, per round.

Event Prediction. Each event has a question, listed outcomes, an entry window and a settlement rule. A wallet may enter more than once and select multiple outcomes. The event's maximum entry amount applies to that wallet's combined stake across all outcomes in the event.

Pools and multipliers. Entries add to the pool for their selected outcome. Winning payouts depend on the final total pool, the winning outcome pool, the player's winning stake and the applicable reward rate. Displayed multipliers are estimates that change as entries arrive. A confirmed position cannot be traded, transferred or exited through these game contracts.

Seed contributions. Seed is included in the pool calculation. For Event Prediction, it is allocated evenly across the outcomes and is backed by the shared contract balance. It is not a separate reserve for each event and is excluded from recorded player liabilities. Payout transfers require sufficient contract funding.

Movement of funds. An entry transfers its stake from your wallet to the game contract. A successful claim or refund transfers the eligible amount from that contract to the participating wallet. These games do not use a separate user deposit balance on the website. Connecting a wallet alone does not authorize a transfer.

Entry conditions. The contract checks the selected outcome, amount limits, opening window and lock time when a transaction executes. Submitting a transaction before the countdown ends does not reserve an entry. An entry must execute successfully within the permitted window.

Reward rate and fees. The reward rate determines the share of the pool used to calculate winning payouts. For example, a 95% reward rate corresponds to a 5% fee. Event Prediction stores the rate on each event at creation; later changes to its global setting apply to new events. Price Prediction uses its applicable contract reward rate. Eligible stake refunds have no game fee. See Payouts & Fees for the formula and examples.

Claims and refunds. The participating wallet collects an eligible amount by submitting a claim or refund transaction. Entitlements have no expiry time. Each position can be collected once, subject to the contract's eligibility checks, sufficient balance and a recipient that can accept the transfer. If the transfer reverts, the position remains unpaid and can be attempted again.

Network fees. Blockchain transactions incur network gas separately from game fees. A transaction included in a block can consume gas even if it reverts. Declining a wallet request before broadcast does not create a blockchain transaction or incur its gas fee.

Price sources. Price rounds use stored lock and close readings for the selected source. Where an on-chain oracle is enabled, round processing reads its configured feed. For a published price source, the operator submits readings and their associated references. The recorded values are available through the contract explorer.

Event settlement. The operator applies the event's published settlement rule and submits a winning outcome after lock and before the refund timeout. The contract records that outcome and calculates payout eligibility; it does not independently verify the external event. A resolved event cannot be resolved again or cancelled.

EventHash. A hash of the question and outcome labels is stored at event creation. Each entry supplies an event hash that must match the stored value. Additional explanatory text is covered by this hash only when included in those question or outcome strings.

Event refunds. Player stakes are refundable when an event is cancelled or remains unresolved seven days after lock. An unresolved event can be cancelled before lock or after that timeout. Once the timeout is reached, it cannot be resolved. A valid resolved event pays winning stakes through Claim; other stakes do not qualify for refunds. A listed draw is treated as an ordinary outcome.

Price refunds. Price Prediction has separate refund conditions for tied, cancelled, unresolved or invalid rounds. Eligibility also depends on round timing, state and whether the position has already been paid. See Transactions & Refunds for details.

Reporting discrepancies. Report a discrepancy with the market or round identifier and relevant public transaction references through the contact channel below. Available actions depend on the contract's recorded state and permitted functions. A support request does not change a recorded result or extend a contract deadline.

Operator functions. Authorized roles create markets, configure supported settings, process price rounds and resolve events as permitted by each contract. These functions and their limits are described in the Resolution guide and contract source code.

Event balances. Event Prediction records unsettled player stakes, unpaid winner payouts and unpaid refunds as player liabilities. Withdrawals are limited to the balance above those recorded obligations. Events share a contract balance; the operator must provide sufficient funding for payout transfers.

Pausing and availability. New entries may be paused for maintenance or incident handling. The pause check does not disable claim and refund functions, which remain subject to their normal eligibility and transfer conditions. Website, network or provider interruptions can affect access and transaction processing.

Interface and contract access. The website may be updated, restricted or discontinued. Public contracts can also be inspected and called through compatible tools. Their recorded positions and eligibility checks are separate from website availability.

Wallet and transaction review. Maintain access to your wallet using its provider's security and recovery options. Check the network, contract, amount and selected outcome before confirming a transaction. Candle Genie does not request private keys or recovery phrases and cannot recover them. Confirmed entries cannot be edited through the website.

Acceptable use. Do not disrupt the service, exploit its contracts, manipulate market results, impersonate others or use the service for unlawful activity, including money laundering or sanctions evasion. Community content must comply with applicable law and must not contain spam, malicious links or another person's private information.

Public contributions. You are responsible for the display names, avatars and messages you submit. They may be displayed with your wallet address. Content that violates these terms may be moderated or removed from the website.

Taxes. You are responsible for determining, reporting and paying taxes that apply to your use of the service.

Participation outcomes. A stake on a losing outcome is not returned unless the position qualifies for a contract refund. You may lose the full amount entered. Payout estimates do not guarantee a result or a positive return.

Information. Game descriptions, market data and Learn content explain the service. They are not financial, investment, legal or tax advice.

Technical limitations. Contract defects, network conditions, price-source interruptions and interface errors may affect transaction processing or funds held in contracts.

Warranty and liability. The service is provided "as is" and "as available" to the extent permitted by applicable law. To that extent, liability is excluded for lost stakes, lost profits, missed entries, failed transactions, gas costs and indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. These terms do not exclude rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Transaction records. The contract's recorded state determines transaction status, positions and payout eligibility. Explorer records can be used to check these values against the interface. An on-chain record identifies the submitted result; external event details are assessed under the published settlement rule.

Privacy. The Privacy Policy explains wallet-related information, public profiles, community content, browser storage and service providers.

Updates. Revisions are published on this page with an updated date. Review the current terms when using the service. A change to this text does not itself modify deployed contract code or completed transactions.
